About this Website

This website presents the research that I undertook for my doctoral thesis that was defended at the University of Zurich in June 2016. The project was supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation during my employment in the research project “Architectures of Display” at the University of Zurich, led by Prof. Martino Stierli.

The outcome of my research into the oevre of Theodore Conrad and Louis Checkman has been documented in various forms, among others in an article published in Les maquettes d’architecture (2015) which can be found here. Smaller texts have appeared in publications such as Being Modern. Building the Collection of the Museum of Modern Art (2017) and The Architectural Model. Tool, Fetish, Small Utopia (2012). A text about model drawings On the Translation of Architectural Media: The Model Drawings for Liebman House will be part of a forthcoming publication Artefakte des Entwerfens (2019). A small selection of model drawings was presented in an exhibition by the same name at the Architekturmuseum der TU Berlin in 2018.

The manuscript received a generous stipend from the Graham Foundation that goes toward a future publication.
